Fifteen candidates, which included a number of present and former legislators, filed their nominations on Monday, the fourth day of filing nominations for the assembly elections.
Among the candidates who filed their nominations included the BJP candidates Mauvin Godhino (Dabolim), Rohan Khaunte (Porvorim), Subhash Shirodkar (Shiroda) and Nilkanth Halarnkar (Tivim), MGP candidates Sudin Dhavalikar (Marcaim), Deepak Dhavalikar (Priol), Ketan Bhatikar (Ponda) and Naresh Sawal (Bicholim), Congress candidate Sankalp Amonkar (Mormugao) and independent candidate Isidore Fernandes (Canacona).
Former Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, who was denied the ticket, was the first BJP rebel to have filed his papers as an independent.
Priya Mayenkar also filed a nomination as an independent candidate from Aldona constituency.
Some dummy candidates also filed their nominations on Monday. So far, a total of 21 nominations have been filed in the last four days of filing nominations.
Meanwhile, not a single nomination paper for the eight Assembly seats of Salcete was received on day two of the process of filing nominations.
The election authorities in Saclete have so far received the lone nomination paper of an independent candidate Digvijit Chavan for the Navelim seat.
