A 16-year-old boy of class 10 from Pilerne-Marra was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight when he was on his way for tuition classes at Verla-Canca on Saturday evening.
He was later found “dumped” at Mapusa bus stand with no physical injuries.
Mapusa Police have registered a kidnapping case under section 363 of the IPC against unidentified persons.
The boy’s mother, Amisha Kavlekar lodged a complaint against unidentified persons for allegedly kidnapping her son, who went missing on Saturday evening when he was on his way for tuition classes.
Sources said that the boy, Sahil Kavlekar alighted from the bus along the main Verla-Canca road at around 4 pm and was walking towards his tuition class, when some persons came in a vehicle pressed a handkerchief to his face and dragged him into a car.
In the meanwhile, the tuition teacher called up the parents and informed them that their son had not reported for tuition.
The boy’s father first reported the incident to Betim police outpost.
Sources said the boy was finally found by his parents at the Mapusa bus stand at around 9.30 pm.
The boy claims that he did not see the face of his kidnappers or the make of the car, sources said. He also said that only after he regained consciousness did he realise that he was dumped at the Mapusa bus stand from where he called his parents from a by-stander’s mobile phone.
Police are verifying the statements of the boy.
“As of now, we have registered a kidnapping case and investigation is going on,” said Mapusa PI, Tushar Lotlikar.
