19-yr-old girl dies in mishap at Sirsaim

A 19-year-old pillion rider from Tirthbag-Mayem died while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), after she was grievously injured in a road mishap at Sirsaim.

Colvale police has registered an offence against the two-wheeler rider.

According to Colvale police, the mishap took place near Zarapkar petrol pump on the railway bridge at Sirsaim on January 26 at 9 pm, when Sanika Sanjay Mone, a student of Vidya Prabodhini College Porvorim was a pillion rider on a two-wheeler driven by her friend Tejashri Joshi, from Mulgao. They were proceeding from Sirsaim to Bicholim.

As their scooter reached the railway bridge, the scooter collided with an oncoming car.

Mone fell on the road and was seriously injured. She was taken to Mapusa District Hospital and later shifted to the GMC, where she died on February 5 while undergoing treatment.

Colvale police has booked an offence against the two-wheeler rider, Tejashri Joshi and further investigation is being conducted by PI Bharat Kharat.
