Calangute Police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman by forcibly tearing her clothes and recording the incident on their mobile phones.
The accused have been identified as 51-year-old Rajendra Singh, a native of Rajasthan currently residing in Candolim and 34-year-old Swapnil Manjrekar, a Mumbai native staying at a hotel in Siolim.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, the duo allegedly entered her house, wrongfully restrained her, and assaulted her.
They also threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident.
The police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the BNS, including charges for assault, criminal intimidation and outraging the modesty of a woman.
“The matter is under investigation, and we are gathering evidence, including statements from the victim and any available witnesses,” said a senior police official from the Calangute Police Station.
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents calling for strict action against the perpetrators.
