2 convicted in 2021 Fatorda double murder case

The South Goa Sessions Court has found two persons guilty in the 2021 Chandrawado“Fatorda double murder case.

The Court will hear the accused, Rabinkumar alias Ravi Sada and Akash Ghosh, on the point of sentence on December 17.

The incident took place on March 3, 2021, at Chandrawado, where Minguel Miranda and his mother-in-law, Catarina Pinto, were stabbed to death.

According to the prosecution, the three accused, including a minor boy, entered Miranda’s outside kitchen with the common intention of committing robbery. They were armed with knives and a hammer (ghan). They allegedly stabbed Miranda and Catarina and attacked them with the hammer, killing both on the spot.

After the assault, the three, including the minor, entered the main house and stole a wallet containing cash, a gold chain, and important documents belonging to the deceased.

The accused have been booked under sections 302, 394, 397, 398, and 449 read with Section 34 of the IPC.

The prosecution examined 24 witnesses to support its case. Sources said the minor boy was earlier convicted by the Juvenile Justice Board.

The investigation was carried out by then Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak.
