In a freak mishap, two cops attached to the Verna police got injured after a rent-a-car struck their bike while they were on their way to investigate another road mishap at Sancoale on Thursday evening.
According to sources, Hawaldar Ashish Kumar and Constable Sagar Rane had gone to Sancoale after Verna police received a call of an accident between a car and bike near the SBI bank in Sancoale.
"However, as they reached the slope near the Housing Board colony at Upasnagar and opposite the Kala Bhavan, a rent-a-car struck their bike, flinging them off the road in the gutter.”
“Both cops were injured and they were rushed by onlookers to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital. They were later discharged after treatment," said the source.
Verna Police is investigating both the cases reported at Sancoale.
Meanwhile, another rent-a-car hit against a divider at Shantinagar highway and went off the road. Locals rushed to the site and helped the vehicle to come out of the gutter.
