While Archbishop of Mumbai Cardinal Oswald Gracias and a senior Vatican official who traces his roots to Orlim was re-elected as president of Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), Bishop Anil Couto, who hails from Aldona/Pomburpa, was elected CCBI secretary.

Archbishop of Madras and Mylapore George Antonysamy was elected

vice-president of CCBI, during the ongoing 29th plenary assembly of Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) in Bhopal which began on January 31.
