Flamboyant Goa Su-Raj Party leader Mickky Pacheco is once again in the eye of a storm “ this time for allegedly abusing a government servant on duty (Returning officer for Benaulim constituency) and obstructing him from discharging his lawful duties.
The Colva police have been quick to register a case against Mickky for obstructing public servant while discharging public functions and for violation of the model code of conduct under section 186, 504 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
Mickky, however, has denied abusing the Returning Officer for the Benaulim Assembly constituency, Ajay Gaude, or obstructing him while discharging his public functions.
The incident occurred past midnight of February 2 at the Kentucky bar and restaurant where Mickky and restaurant owner Mathew Diniz were found seating late night. The Returning Officer claimed that while he was patrolling in the constituency, he noticed that Kentucky owner Mathew Diniz and Mickky Pacheco were seated inside, allegedly having alcohol despite the fact that there’s a ban on serving liquor beyond 11 pm.
It is alleged that when Gaude questioned the duo’s presence, both Mickky and Mathew allegedly abused the RO, thus obstructing a government servant from discharging his lawful duties.
Mickky, however, has begged to differ, saying there’s no substance in the complaint lodged by the flying squad in-charge Subhash Kalgutkar as per the claim made by the Returning officer. “One, I and Mathew were not present inside the Kentucky restaurant when the Returning Officer came at the spot. We were seating well outside the premises when the restaurant was closed for the day and the staff having already left the premises,” Mickky claimed.
He further demanded to know why the RO or the flying squad did not film the entire proceedings if the restaurant was indeed open. “Let them prove that the restaurant was open and that we were having drinks. I will go to the Colva police station, demanding to know how they have registered the FIR against me without any evidence,” Mickky said.
