Two persons from Mapusa were killed when a jeep and a two-wheeler collided with each other at Porba vaddo in Calangute on Friday evening.
According to Calangute police, the mishap took place near MLA Michael Lobo’s office, when a four-wheeler struck the two-wheeler.
Both riders, Rajaram Sawant (69) and Dattatray Shinde (66) were severely injured and were rushed to the GMC hospital at Bambolim in a 108 ambulance, where they breathed their last while undergoing treatment.
The four-wheeler driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the site. Calangute Police have seized the vehicle and are on the lookout for the driver.
Police Sub-Inspector Sushant Sangodkar and Hawaldar Sandip Ghodge conducted the panchnama and investigations are underway.
