The AICC membership campaign observer for Goa, Prakash Rathod, said the people of Goa have an emotional connect with the Congress party as it has always listened to their voice and remained in the forefront to protect the identity of Goa.
Launching the digital membership campaign of the party at the South Goa District Congress office on Friday, Rathod said Congress has always contributed to nation-building and maintaining communal harmony and peace.
He added that the entire Congress leadership stands united and exuded confidence that the party will record the highest membership in the state.
AICC Membership Campaign Observer of South & North Goa Sunil Hanumannavar and Mansoor Khan, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, MLA Luizinho Faleiro and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Chairman of Co-ordination Committee Adv Ramakant Khalap, former minister Aleixo Sequeira and Domnic Fernandes, GPCC Vice President M K Shaikh, South Goa District Congress President Joseph Dias, Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho, Youth Congress President Varad Mardolkar and various block presidents and other Congress functionaries were also present.
In his brief address, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat appealed to the members to reach out to the people by going on the ground. He exuded confidence that the Congress party can comfortably enroll minimum 100 members in each booth, adding that almost 5000 members are enrolled as members of the party in Margao constituency.
Chairman of Co-ordination Committee Adv Ramakant Khalap while speaking on the occasion expressed happiness that all the senior members of the party have accepted the responsibility of monitoring the membership campaign. He said with the guidance of the seniors and enthusiasm of the youth, Congress will complete the target within the timeline of one month.
Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro said that Navelim citizens have been giving positive response to the membership drive, adding “let us work on strengthening the booth committees which will help in getting people enrolled as Congress members”.
GPCC Vice President M K Shaikh welcomed the gathering while SGDC President Joseph Dias proposed the vote of thanks.
All the GPCC members from South Goa and District Congress Committee members were present for the function.
