While the recent controversy over ward reservations has compelled many outgoing councillors to move to other wards or field their family members to contest the MMC polls, two outgoing councillors have opted out of the race.
Outgoing councillors Vandana Satardekar (Ward 20) and Reema Sonurlekar (Ward 18) did not file their nominations for the polls.
However, sources said both outgoing councillors have a strong base of supporters in their respective wards and could support other candidates in their wards.
