Valpoi
The Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) issued showcause notices to chicken shops operating under unhygienic conditions in Valpoi town.
As such, VMC Chief Officer Dashrath Gawas has issued notices asking that why action should not be taken against these shops for not following the mandatory hygiene guidelines.
Valpoi Municipal Council Chief Officer Gawas conducted a survey of all the chicken shops operating under the jurisdiction of the VMC and found that two of the shops located just a short distance away from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Garden has been operating under unhygienic conditions.
It is also learnt that the chicken shops have been using dirty water sourced from the nearby Sulabh toilet to clean the chicken.
It is also learnt from official sources that VMC has made alternate arrangement for the chicken shops in the market complex area, but shifting of the same has not taken place for the last 3 years.
In view of the above, the Valpoi Municipal Council hopes to ensure that shifting of the chicken shops will be undertaken within a short period of time.
