CANACONA
PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Wednesday commissioned two projects to enhance water supply to the entire Loliem-Polem village.
Pauskar commissioned a 300m3 Overhead Reservoir (OHR) and 650m3 Ground Level Reservoir (GLR) at Daptamoll Maxem in Loliem-Polem village at a cost of Rs 1.49 crore in the presence of Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes and others.
The twin projects will help supply regular water to the areas, including Loliem, Peddem, Shellim, Madditolop, Polem, Daptamoll, Gawaliwada, Madditolop and all low-lying areas.
A 20HP booster pumpset has also been commissioned to discharge 100m3/hr for 4 hours at a stretch for filling of OHR.
Incidentally, construction work was taken up in 2017 and completed in November last year.
Pauskar also highlighted some of the major works completed by PWD in Canacona, including augmentation of WSS to Canacona, providing and laying DI and MS rising of 600mm dia from Chapoli Dan to Water Treatment Plant (Shrishthal), construction of two service reservoirs in Canacona municipal area amounting to Rs. 1671.01 lakh and improving water supply in municipal areas, Shrishthal, Poinguinim (Part), Loliem-Polem and Agonda (part,) villages.
Pauskar also informed that 490 water connections have been released in Canacona constituency under ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ at Yeda (Rs 18.66 lakh), Avali (Rs 18.93 lakh) and (Rs18.86 lakh) in Cotigao, Gaondongrim (Rs 37.16 lakh), Poinguinim (Rs 34.77 lakh), Agonda (Rs 18.08 lakh), Shrishthal (Rs 18.47 lakh) and Loliem-Polem (Rs 18.28 lakh).
Besides, water meters worth Rs 15.29 lakh were provided in Canacona Taluka under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes also informed that work orders have been issued and works are underway to supply, install, test and commission 240 HP centrifugal pumpsets at Chapoli (Rs 52.76 lakh), construction of 100m3 GLR and laying pipeline at Peddem (Rs 44.96 lakh), supplying, installation, commissioning and testing of 100HP/75KW centrifugal pump at Ordhfond (Rs 40.94 lakh), construction of 300 M3 Ground Level Reservoir at Loliem (Rs 41.17 lakh) and construction of 300m3 Ground Level Reservoir and providing conveying pipeline at Potkem, Welwada in Poinguinim (Rs 49.84 lakh).
Among those present on the occasion included Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Sachin Naik, Dy Sarpanch Jessica Corte, panch and ex-sarpanchas Ajay Lolienkar, Nishant Prabhudessai and Shailesh Pagui, PWD (Water supply) engineers, Dr Vilas Pawaskar (recently honoured with as the state’s best social worker) and others.
