Youth must be given representation in the forthcoming assembly polls in the State and the BJP was working in that direction, said Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shripad Naik but reiterated that whether his son would be given ticket or not will be decided by the party and not on his prompting.
Naik also said, on Saturday, that alliance with like-minded parties would ensure that BJP will win the 2022 electoral battle hands down. “New faces and youth should be given representation in the elections and BJP is working in that direction.
We have enough candidates and karyakartas to take the baton ahead. We will take the right steps at the appropriate time,” Naik said.
The Union Minister of State for Tourism was speaking to journalists at the sidelines of a function to commemorate Pt Dindayal Upaddya Jayanthi at the BJP’s North Goa District office in Mapusa.
North Goa District President, Shripad Naik and other leaders were also present.
Continuing, Naik said the ticket for his son will be decided purely on performance and the people’s response. “If the party decides to give the ticket to my son he will definitely contest. What I think is not important. Whatever work he has done and whatever people want will happen,” he said.
The union minister’s son Siddesh Naik who is a Zilla Panchayat member is one of the aspirants for the BJP ticket for the Cumbarjua seat besides the present incumbent MLA Pandurang Madkaikar.
According to Naik, alliance with parties with the same wavelength will help BJP to seal the victory effortlessly.
“If we form an alliance then 101 percent we will come back to power with a majority. Otherwise also the BJP is trying but if we contest with like-minded parties then it will be better,” said Naik, who has been representing North Goa as MP for the fifth time.
On whether he would electorally take part in the forthcoming assembly polls in the State, Naik said that he has been a disciplined soldier of the party and will perform whatever role the party assigns.
He further said that many political parties have been showing keen interest in the approaching elections in the State but it would make no difference to the BJP.
“The real Goans know the pulse in the State. BJP has been in politics for a very long time and has done a lot for the people of Goa. BJP does not need to show off,” he said.
