The continued surveillance and action within the Bollywood ecosystem launched in the aftermath of the suicide by actor Sushant Singh Rajput by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai bagged another case in Goa on Saturday when South African Demetriades Agisilaos was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Demetriades, who is the brother of actor Arjun Rampal's girlfriend, was arrested after a team of the NCB raided his house at Chopdem in Pernem taluka.
In a statement, NCB admitted that only a "small quantity" of hashish/charas was seized from his Chopdem house but added that he was also nabbed earlier in two Mumbai cases last year.
"Pertinent to mention here that accused Demetriades Agisilaos had earlier been arrested in two more cases of NCB, Mumbai i.e. Crime No. 16/2020 & Crime No. 24/2020 for the offences under the NDPS Act, 1985," the statement released by NCB said.
The central agency has also questioned Arjun Rampal and his partner Gabriella Demetriades in connection with the matter. It had also conducted searches at the actor's residence in Mumbai's Bandra and seized electronic equipment, among other items.
Earlier, Rampal's friend Paul Bartel was also arrested by the NCB in the drug case.
Meanwhile, the NCB also seized "intermediate quantity" of MDMA/Ecstasy pills near Nagoa Chowk at Nagoa-Arpora in Bardez taluka on Friday and arrested Ulasnagar native Mayur Mohnani @ Amit. The 22-year-old is in judicial custody.
In yet another case on Friday, the NCB seized 12 LSD Blots (Commercial Quantity) and small quantity of MDMA/Ecstasy pills near Om Lawn in Siolim and arrested Noumaan Savery, also aged 22. Savery who is from Durg, Chhattisgarh led the NCB team to an accomplice Siddiq Ahmed from Hyderabad.
Savery and Siddiq are also in judicial custody and were working for a restaurateur in Anjuna.
