Neha A N Panvelkar, deputy director of Mines and Geology, has confirmed that at some places the officers intercepted and seized the trucks. “I have signed to release 10 trucks today. It was not a specific raid but routine inspections. Our officers can intercept the trucks,” Panvelkar said.
However, sources informed that the Mines department had seized 21 trucks all over the State, which were transporting sand and other things illegally.
The inspection was conducted at various places including Keri-Sattari, Honda and in Ponda taluka.
Sources informed that at Honda, one basalt and one sand truck were seized, while in Keri-Sattari five trucks were seized for transporting basalt.
In Porvorim area, seven trucks were seized, which included one truck transporting laterite stones, four trucks transporting basalt, one sand transporting truck and one river pebbles transporting truck.
In Ponda taluka, at Mardol, one truck involved in transportation of river pebbles was seized, while at Farmagudi, six trucks were seized carrying basalt, laterite stones, laterite rubble, pebbles and sand.

Police sources informed that they were seized by the mines department.
According to Panvelkar, 10 trucks were released after legal proceedings were initiated. “It was not a specific raid, but our officers can intercept them at any time while transporting it illegally,” she reiterated.
