23-year-old murdered in cold blood at Rumdamol

MARGAO

In what is suspected to be revenge killing, 23-year old Sadiq Bellari, a resident of Rumdamol Housing Board, was murdered in cold blood inside his house on Friday morning.

The incident shock waves across the housing Board as Sadiq’s body lay in a pool of blood on the bed, where he was sleeping. The assailants, believed to be two, slit the throat of the deceased. The upper portion of chest was cut open by the accused.

The incident occurred on Friday morning soon after his mother and father left the house for work. Police pointed out that deceased Sadiq was sleeping alone when the assailants barged inside the house to knife him to death.

As the gruesome killing spread like wild fire, the Maina Curtorim police led by PI Arun Desai rushed to the housing Board. Sub-divisional Police Officer, Margao DySP Santosh Desai, who visited the murder spot, said that preliminary investigations revealed that revenge killing is suspected the cause behind the murder of Sadiq.

In fact, DySP Santosh informed that the police identified the two assailants behind the gruesome murder. He has expressed confidence that the police would soon achieve a breakthrough in the case.

“Our preliminary investigations have revealed that Sadiq has been murdered in a revenge killing. He was involved in a murder around four years ago. Recently, he was enlarged on bail by the court”, DySP Santosh informed.

He said police teams have been dispatched to neighbouring Karnataka to trace the killers, who had fled from the state. “We have identified the killers. The police are on the trail of the accused. It is just a matter of time before the killers are nabbed”, DySP Santosh said.

To a question, the DySP informed the duo took advantage of the absence of the inmates, including the parents of the deceased, to effect entry and commit the murder.

The police immediately requisitioned the services of the forensic team and experts to obtain clues in the case.

Associate Professor, Forensic medicine, Dr Madhu Ghodkirekar, who is the in-charge of South Goa district Hospital mortuary, along with his team also visited the murder spot. Dr Madhu said the visit will help him and team to obtain first hand experience of the ground reality at the murder spot.

The incident sent shock waves in the Housing board area with residents, including present and past panchayat members pointing out that they had never such a cold blooded murder taking place in the village. They pointed out that they have not seen such a gruesome murder taking place in the housing board area.

Panch member Safiya Bi said what has happened in the housing board is bad, asserting that no one has the right to take away the life of anyone. “It is true that Sadiq was an accused in a murder case. But, who has given the killers to take the law in their hands and kill him. The killers should not be spared. We are confident the police would bring the killers to book”, she said.
