TMC on Wednesday said the party has accomplished yet another milestone as over 2.5 lakh families registered themselves for what is being called the ‘game-changer’ Griha Laxmi scheme.
The announcement was made by Lok Sabha MP and AITC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra in a press conference held at the party office in Panaji on Wednesday. Other Goa TMC leaders including Avita Bandodkar, Doris Teixeira and Sheetal Gunjikar were also present to mark the success of this unprecedented welfare scheme, stated TMC in a press release.
Kicking off the event with great ardour, Mahua Moitra stated, "With over 2.5 lakh families registering themselves for the Griha Laxmi Card, the scheme has already penetrated around 65% of all the 3.5 lakh households in Goa.”
She also noted that the recently launched Yuva Shakti scheme empowering youth between 18-45 years by offering a bank credit of Rs 20 lakh is also being received with much enthusiasm among the youth in the State.
Responding to some of the biased criticism being peddled by other political parties, she added that while there are other schemes that exist on paper, most of them do not actually reach the people.
“For the past seven months, the Rs 1,500 per month (as promised by BJP’s Griha Aadhar scheme) has barely reached Goan households, because as opposed to the budgetary allocation required of Rs 270 crore, only Rs 180 crores has been spent by the state.”
Scoffing at the inefficiency of the current schemes, she noted that only 2,800 people had received the benefits of BJP’s Chief Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (CMRY) of the 15 lakh Goan population.
