Having being displaced by the Tillari Dam, residents of the Sal Rehabilitation Colony had been awaiting a proper road to their colony for about 25 years.
Their wait was finally over after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant directed authorities to construct a 3-5-km road to their colony.
A delegation of residents from the Sal Rehabilitation Colony met the chief minister, WRD Minister Philip Neri Rodrigues and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar at the Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali, where they put forth their grievances.
The delegation comprising Shankar Mhapsekar, Ravindra Mhapsekar, Raghoba Gavas, Ratan Gavas, Abhijit Teli and Pandurang Gawas complained about water problems and lack of a proper road for the past 25 years.
Sawant immediately directed authorities to construct a 3.5 km road to their colony and instructed officials to construct a water tank to store and supply water to the affected residents.
WRD Chief Engineer Shrikant Patil and Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar were also present on the occasion.
The WRD will construct the road while an order has also been issued to authorities to resolve the water problem immediately.
