In a bid to reach out to locals agitating against the proposed Dhargal-Mopa road, Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar on Wednesday said he is ready to discuss all issues faced by locals regarding the road between Dhargal, Sukekulan and Mopa.
The PWD had begun surveying the area to acquire land at Dhargal, Sukekulan-Tulaskarwadi and Mopa for the road.
However, locals, especially farmers, are aggrieved and claimed that the survey work has been started without taking them into confidence.
"The road has been approved as a national highway and if locals have any issues, I am ready to listen to them and resolve the issue through discussion. I'm available in my office at Pernem every Thursday or people can also visit me at the Secretariat," said Ajgaonkar, while assuring to take up their issues with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
While appealing to people not to oppose projects, the deputy chief minister said: “I have invited the local leaders for discussion on land to be acquired for this road. How am I supposed to know their problems if they are not ready to come to meet me," asked Ajgaonkar while speaking to local reporters.
However, the aggrieved farmers have demanded that Ajgaonkar should come and meet them to discuss the matter, just as he goes to meet them for votes during elections.
