The Sancoale Panchayat has threatened police action against those found defecating in open spaces in the village.

Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borker was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a new toilet block facility for residents of Zuarinagar in the presence of Ward Panch Govind Lamani, ZP Anita Thorat, other panch members and officials of Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited (ZACL).

"We have set up this toilet after several meetings with ZACL and we will convene meetings in all wards to ensure there is no open defecation across the village.”

“We have already spoken to Verna police to initiate strict action on those people defecating in the open. We are clearing a power bill of Rs 1.07 crore and water bill of Rs 1.7 crore and we have got the toilets activated. We will not allow anyone to indulge in open defecation," said Borkar.

Ward panch Govind Lamani said though there was already a toilet block, it was insufficient and an additional new toilet block was the need of the hour.

Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat said the toilet block was taken up under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan.

"People must make the best use of the toilet and use it properly and hygienically. These toilets should not be misused because there were complains that some miscreants deliberately broke the toilet lights and misused the toilet," said Thorat.
