Work on the second phase of the Pali link road between Goa and Belagavi, which will be an important route for people in several parts of Sattari, was launched on Thursday.
Poriem MLA Deviya Rane launched the work at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, in the presence of ZP Member Devyani Gavas, Thane Sarpanch Sarita Gaonkar, Keri Sarpanch Diksha Gawas other panch members and locals.
The Goa-Belagavi road via Pali will benefit residents in Valpoi, Nagargao, Mauxi, Sawarde, Thane and surrounding areas.
Addressing a gathering, Rane said this route will not only cut short the distance between Goa and Belagavi for residents in Sattari, but it would also promote development and tourism in the area.
The first phase of the work had been completed two years ago and PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral approved the people for the second phase of the work.
Commenting on the road project, PWD Assistant Engineer Devendra Velingkar assured that the work would be of a high standard, especially since the contractor who completed the first phase had got the work for the second phase.
