The Bori police in Madhya Pradesh have arrested three persons from Behadia-MP in connection with the attack on a Goa Police team in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh, while the team was escorting an accused involved in burglary cases in Goa to a court for transit remand.

Among the arrested included Bhor Singh Dongar Singh Bamania, the brother of 38-year-old Hirasingh Bamniya, who was arrested in connection with multiple high-value housebreaking cases in the State.

The police had detained four people in this case. However, one of them was released after interrogation after it was confirmed that he was not involved in the attack.

The incident had taken place on January 29 at about 5 pm, after a Goa police team had nabbed Hirasingh Bamniya and was proceeding to the JMFC Jobat Court, about 20 kms from the Bori Police Station, to obtain a transit remand.

The police vehicle was allegedly intercepted and attacked by a mob armed with weapons such as koitas and dandas, in an unsuccessful attempt to forcibly free the accused.

Two members of the Goa Police team sustain minor injures, while the police vehicle was also damaged during the incident. The police team retaliated and managed to keep the accused in custody. They safely moved away from the spot until local police reinforcements arrived.

The Bori police had registered a case against unknown persons in this connection.

Meanwhile, the Goa police suspect that the accused, Hirasingh Bamania, may be involved in several burglaries across Goa and other states.

As many as 20 cases have been registered against Bamania and his gang in the last 3-4 years. Police suspect that Hirasingh has been active in burglaries since 2009 and may be involved in far more burglaries in the last 16 years.
