Mauxi VP installs CCTVs to curb garbage dumping

The Mauxi panchayat has installed CCTV cameras in a bid to curb garbage dumping along the Valpoi“Honda road in Nagve area.

The Panchayat has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found dumping garbage at the location.

According to information, unidentified persons were repeatedly dumping garbage in the Nagve area. Despite repeated appeals, instructions, and warnings issued by the Panchayat requesting citizens not to dump waste, the practice continued.

The Panchayat had also made several efforts to clean the garbage dumped at the site.

As a permanent preventive measure, it was decided to install solar-powered CCTV cameras at the location, which has now been implemented. Henceforth, anyone found dumping garbage at the site will face strict action.

Reacting to the issue, Mauxi Sarpanch Preeti Gaonkar said waste management is the responsibility of every citizen.

“Despite repeated requests from the Panchayat, the instructions were ignored. Since the Valpoi“Honda road is a major route, unidentified individuals”especially during nighttime”were found dumping garbage at the spot. Therefore, the decision to install CCTV cameras was taken,” said Gaonkar.

She further clarified that there will be no leniency, and strict action will be taken against rule violators.

Meanwhile, residents have welcomed the Panchayat’s initiative. Citizens have expressed that dumping garbage at the site poses serious health hazards and have termed the Panchayat’s warning of strict action as appropriate and necessary.
