MAPUSA
Mapusa police have registered a case against three youths for allegedly threatening students, teachers and others with hockey sticks and baseball bats after their 17-year-old brother was assaulted during a fete organised by a prominent higher secondary school in Mapusa.
The accused have been identified as Rafiq Nurullah Mulla, Aftab Imtiaz Nawar and Shahbaz Imtiaz Nawar, all residents of Cunchelim, Mapusa. According to police, the incident occurred around 9.50 pm on October 25, when the school was hosting the fete on its grounds.
The accused’s younger brother was allegedly beaten up by a fellow student over a petty issue and was kicked and punched.
He subsequently informed his brothers about the assault.
The three allegedly arrived at the venue in a white car, but the student accused of assaulting their brother had already left. After failing to locate him, they allegedly threatened students, teachers, school staff and members of the public present at the venue, triggering panic.
The school principal subsequently lodged a complaint with Mapusa police.
Police have registered a case under Sections 329(3), 351(3) and 115(2), read with Section 3(5), of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Notices have also been issued to the accused under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Mapusa police are investigating the case.
