MARGAO
The Congress is set to induct Warren Alemao, cousin of Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, into the party on Tuesday, a move that has raised questions within the Benaulim unit over the party’s candidate for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
Warren had reportedly been seeking entry into the party for some time. He has also been preparing for the 2027 electoral battle through a series of developmental projects across Benaulim constituency.
The move has, however, caused concern among Congress workers in Benaulim, amid uncertainty over whether Warren has been assured the party ticket for the 2027 Assembly elections. The Benaulim Congress Block Committee has said it was not consulted before the decision. According to the committee, the party leadership merely informed its members about Tuesday’s induction.
Warren, meanwhile, took to social media on Monday to invite his supporters and well-wishers to attend what he described as “one of the most meaningful moments of my public journey” — his official induction into the Congress.
“This is more than a new beginning for me. It is a step forward with renewed hope, greater responsibility and an even stronger commitment to the people of Goa,” he said.
