Kamat challenges critics of projects, defends BJP’s development agenda

Says those relying solely on guarantees will fade from the political scene

MARGAO
PWD Minister Digambar Kamat on Monday challenged those opposing development projects and finding fault with ongoing works to come forward with alternative models, asserting that mere criticism would not stall the BJP’s development agenda.
Taking an apparent swipe at his adversaries, Kamat said those who relied solely on guarantees would eventually disappear from the political scene. Speaking after Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane launched the Rs 10-crore puzzle parking project and the renovation of the Margao Municipal Council’s heritage building, Kamat said the BJP would not allow attempts to obstruct development to derail its plans.
“I want to tell them in clear terms that the BJP will not lag behind and will march forward on the development front. They are free to offer suggestions. Some people only find faults and criticise,” he said.
Recalling the refurbishment of the Comunidade building, Kamat said he had consulted the members, who had assured him of their full support in removing what he described as an eyesore.
Kamat expressed confidence that the renovated Margao Municipal Council building would emerge as one of the finest heritage buildings in Goa. He said the project would incorporate modern amenities, including a lift and facilities to ensure easy access for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Kamat warns MMC staff over missing files
In a separate development, Kamat expressed serious concern over reports of official files going missing from the Margao Municipal Council building and warned that officials and staff found responsible would face stringent action, including the registration of an FIR and termination of their services.
The PWD Minister directed the MMC Administrator to send home any staff members found responsible for missing files, making it clear that negligence or misconduct would not be tolerated. He also cautioned municipal employees against leaking information from the civic body’s offices to outsiders.
“If files are lost or go missing, an FIR will be lodged henceforth, and the staff will be sent home,” Kamat warned.
