3 candidates elected unopposed in Pernem taluka

Three candidates were elected unopposed as panchas of Mopa, Chopdem and Tuem panchayats.

After the scrutiny of nominations on Saturday, Pallavi Rawool from Mopa Panchayat, Nitin Chopdekar from Chopdem Panchayat and Kavita Harijan from Tuem Panchayat were elected unopposed, as only one nomination was filed from the respective wards of the panchayats.  
As the contestants contesting from the respective wards of Mopa, Chopdem and Tuem panchayats were reserved for the ST and since only one nomination was filed, they were elected unopposed.  
The Pernem taluka has 17 panchayats and out of 54,492 voters, 27,168 are female and 27,324 male, who will cast their votes at 92 polling booths on June 11.

Pension cell being set up to expedite cases, GHRC told

Director of Accounts has submitted before the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) that in a bid to expedite disbursement of pension benefits, the constitution of a pension cell has been proposed for timely settlement of revision cases, verification of services and resolution of other pension-related issues.
