CANACONA
Three hundred more people in Canacona took the Covisheild vaccine at the 'Tika Utsav' in Poinguinim on Sunday.
The total number of males to avail the first dose at the Poinguinim Tika Utsav is 151 and 149 women with 96 females in the age group of 45 to 59.
62-Men above 60 years and 89 in the age above 45, while 53 women above 60 years of age participated to get the vaccine.
Incidentally, though it is not confirmed due to SSC examination, the scheduled second dose will be given on April 28 to all those who got vaccinated on Sunday at Poinguinim.
The vaccination drive which commenced at 9 am and concluded at 5 pm, saw Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, Poinguinim Sarpanch Jagdish Gaonkar, BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat, Secretary Damodar Chari and others in attendance.
The health team was led by Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares with Dr Divakarji Velip and Dr Classie.
The Tika Utsav was held at Shri Shradhanand Vidyalaya.
According to health sources, the next camp will be held in Khola village on April 14.
