The alleged gold loan fraud involving a jeweller from Headland Sada has taken a new turn, with Mormugao police registering a third FIR against Bhimappa Chalwadi following a complaint by a local resident who claimed she was cheated of gold ornaments worth around Rs 14 lakh.

According to police, the complaint was filed by Netra Honavarkar of Headland Sada, Mormugao. She alleged that on August 7, 2025, at PBC Jewellers, Headland Sada, and again on January 20, 2026, near Government High School, Headland Sada, Bhimappa Chalwadi, a resident near Siddaruth Math, Headland Sada, sanctioned gold loans of Rs 2.70 lakh and Rs 2.25 lakh against her pledged gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 14 lakh.

The complainant alleged that when she later approached the accused to repay the loan amounts along with interest and reclaim her ornaments, he allegedly refused to accept the payment and informed her that the pledged gold had already been melted, resulting in wrongful loss to her.

Based on the complaint, Mormugao police have registered a case against Bhimappa Chalwadi under Sections 316(5) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saidatta Naik of Mormugao Police Station under the supervision of PI Sheriff Jacques.
