4 ferries ply to clear rush at lone Divar route

OLD GOA

With a lone ferry route operational to transport commuters to and from Divar, four ferries are now pressed into service to clear the rush of commuters.

When The Goan visited the Divar island to get a first-hand experience of the situation prevailing on account of the closure of the Old Goa-Divar ferry route, there were four ferries plying along the operational Ribandar-Divar ferry route to clear the rush of commuters.

The move to operate four ferries has been welcomed by residents in Divar, who, however, have demanded that the arrangement should continue till the other route is made operational again.

It may be recalled that The Goan had highlighted that the closure of the Old Goa-Divar ferry route for two months would put the Divar locals into inconvenience as they would have to wait for long to cross to the island and vice versa.

Former panch Tulsidas Kundaikar had also demanded the operation of four ferries to clear the rush of commuters wanting to enter and exit Divar island.
