KTC now withdraws one bus at Divar

OLD GOA

Even as the closure of the Old Goa-Divar ferry route has put residents of Divar into inconvenience, they have had to face another inconvenience as the KTC has withdrawn one of its buses which were operating along the Divar-Naroa route.

A local informed The Goan that two buses used to operate on the island, one catering to commuters alighting from the Ribandar-Divar ferry point and another catering to commuters alighting from the Old Goa-Divar ferry point.

“While the Ribandar-Divar ferry bus would proceed to Vanxim, the other bus would proceed to Naroa. But with the withdrawal of the Naroa bus, locals residing in Sao Mathias village have been put to inconvenience,” the local said.

Another local said that as a temporary solution, the lone KTC bus is operating alternately from Ribandar-Divar ferry point to Vanxim and then to Naroa.

“It has meant there is a sudden change in timings of the bus, which has created confusion among the commuters.”

The local has further demanded that both KTC buses be plied in Divar, with one bus operating from Ribandar-Divar ferry point to Vanxim and the other bus operating from Ribandar-Divar ferry point to Naroa.

When contacted, a KTC official informed that since the Old Goa-Divar ferry route has been temporary closed, the bus plying on that route has been withdrawn.

But when The Goan pointed that the locals are demanding the operation of both KTC buses, the official informed that the KTC would look into their demand.
