PANAJI
Goa Trinamool Congress strengthened its base in Poriem constituency with the induction of activists - President of Shiv Samman Sanghatana Sujeet Kerkar along with three members - Purushottam Gaonkar, Bhikaji Majik and Pravin Majik -- in the presence of Goa TMC leaders Kiran Kandolkar and Kanta Gaude on Monday at the party office in Panaji.
Expressing their faith in the leadership of Goa TMC, the new entrants said that the Bengal party was the only credible alternative against the fascist BJP.
Following the induction, Sujeet Kerkar stated, “I have joined the party because it is the only party which talks of ‘real’ development. Schemes like Griha Laxmi and Yuva Shakti are proof of the fact. Congress has failed over the years to fight the BJP.”
Taking pride in the growing TMC family, Kiran Kandolkar said, ‘If we want to stop the injustice and sufferings inflicted on Goans by the BJP then we must bring TMC to power.”
Welcoming the new inductees, Kanta Gaude said, “People of Poriem and Valpoi were ruled by only one family until today. It is a day of joy to see people from all walks of life joining Goa TMC. This is the ‘New Dawn’ that we’ve been talking about.”
BJP under fire for U-turn on water bills
PANAJI: The Goa Trinamool Congress on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his convenient U-turn on water bills. The BJP government fooled Goans yet again by first announcing free water scheme and later sending inflated water bills to the public. After facing immense flak from Goans, Pramod Sawant blamed it on a technical fault deliberately done by a few officers, a TMC press note stated. The party said given the outrage among the people, the government was forced to say that those who already paid huge bills don’t need to seek recovery since it would be adjusted in the next cycle. The press notes stated, “TMC condemns this misgovernance. The development further confirms yet another ‘jumla’ in the name of 16,000 litres free water scheme to the people of Goa.”
