Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes on Wednesday said agencies supplying agriculture equipment should also provide proper after-sales service to ensure that the equipment is put to maximum use.
Fernandes was speaking at a function to allot grass-cutters to around 40 beneficiaries from Gaondongrim and Cotigao at a function organised by the Gaondongrim Panchayat.
According to the Canacona Zonal Agriculture Office, around 40 grass-cutters have been procured through a 90% subsidy under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
As part of the scheme, each grass-cutting machine is priced at Rs 30,000 and farmers have to pay only Rs 3,000.
“In the past, a beneficiary would have had to pay the entire cost of Rs 30,000 and the subsidy would later be reimbursed. But now under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, the beneficiary has to pay only 10% of the cost and government hands over the remaining amount to the agency providing the equipment,” said a source from the agriculture office.
“An additional 30 files have approved, while 100 more applications from farmers of Khola, Shrishthal, Gaondongrim and Khotigao villages are under process.”
Agriculture Equipment Agency Gomaya Traders Proprietor Budhu Gaonkar, Assistant Agriculture Officer Ashwin Gaonkar, Gaondongrim Sarpanch Suman Gaonkar, Dy Sarpanch Kusta Gaonkar, Panch Sangeeta Madeval and Anjali Gaonkar were among those present at the function.
