Thousands of candidates turned up outside the Directorate of Health Services on Monday to attend the interview for 100 contractual nursing posts.

The candidates, who queued up as early as 6 am, were seen waiting for their turn enduring sun and rain, highlighting the mismanagement on the part of the health department in conducting the spot interview. Nearly 4,000 jobs aspirants had lined up for 100 posts.

Many were informed only after reaching the venue that they needed to pre-register for the interview. The situation at the Health Department descended into total chaos, as officials appeared unprepared to handle such a large turnout.

The reporting time for the interview was between 9.30am to 10.00am. The monthly remuneration of the advertised post was Rs 30,000. DHS Director Rupa Naik refused to comment on the arrangements.
