After winning with the highest margin in ZP elections across Goa, Cortalim ZP member has now taken the longest pending works in his ZP constituency and on Sunday afternoon the 45-year-old pending dream of having a road in Katem Belle village of Velsao came true after Anton Vas launched the project using ZP funds much to the happiness of villagers and panch members of Cansaulim and Velsao panchayat.
Speaking to the media, newly elected ZP Anton Vas thanked the landlords of the area for giving their land for a good cause. Vas said that the 500-metre road would be completed by January end.
"This road was in my mind since 2015 and I had come here with a JE for an inspection and we faced a lot of issues and after I along with social worker Roquezinho Dsouza met the landlords and slowly got the project to shape and finally we have inaugurated the works of and we will take up the project in phases. I also thank the panchayat of Velsao and Cansaulim for their approvals and assure to take up a lot of development in my area," said Vas.
Social activist Roquezinho D'Souza said that all this while, various MLAs had fooled the people by saying files were held up in the government departments, but in reality, no files were put up at all. D'Souza added that as a last resort, he along with villagers had met Vas who finally took up the works through ZP funds.
