The Goa police arrested five persons in a series of raids across Goa over the alleged circulation and storage of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The coordinated operation titled ‘Suraksha’ saw both the district police, Cyber Crime and Crime Branch cracking down on the heinous crime and arresting Salman Khan, a native of Madhya Pradesh and resident of Chimbel, Mahendra Singh from Uttar Pradesh and residing at Betim, Lemon Islam from West Bengal, Nitin Redkar from Maharashtra and Praneeth Loliencar.
“Based on proactive monitoring of CyberSpace, several instances of transmission, storage and viewing of CSAM were detected. Accordingly, the joint teams from these units conducted raids and apprehended the five persons for violating the law related to CSAM,” Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said.
He stated that CSAM is illegal, morally reprehensible, and causes immense harm to the victims involved. “The distribution, possession, or creation of CSAM is a serious criminal offense with severe legal consequences, and its existence perpetuates the exploitation and trauma suffered by innocent children,” the officer said, urging people to avoid all kinds of transmission, viewership, and storage of such CSAM content to ensure zero exploitation of children.
“The parents, the employers, teaching community and the faith leaders are urged to help prevent creating, transmitting and dissemination of CSAM material as it results in moral depravity and quite often leads to sexual abuse as well.”
