With the State receiving rainfall in abundance over the last few days, the five reservoirs have reached an 80 per cent mark and are expected to overflow by July-end.
Minister for Water Resources Vinoda Paliencar released the data on the storage capacity and water levels of the five reservoirs in the State - Selaulim, Anjuna, Amthane, Panchwadi and Chapoli as on July 21.
In a statement issued, the WRD Minister stated that the dam levels have been filled up 80 per cent.
"Dam levels almost filled up 80 per cent and farmers will face no shortage of water for Irrigation purposes", said Paliencar.
Selaulim Dam, which has the reservoir level of 41.15 mts, has reached a mark of 40.24 mts.
The dam has a storage capacity of 23,436 HAM and its current live storage is 20,962 HAM.
Anjuna Dam has a reservoir level of 93.2 mts and currently reached a mark of 85.05 mts. Its live storage as on the date is 3,190 HAM.
Similarly, Amthane and Panchawadi dams are lose to the 100 per cent mark with 49.45 mts and 25.84 mts respectively.
Nonetheless Chapoli dam has reached a mark of 34.12 mts and its live storage currently is 700.79 HAM. Speaking to media persons, the Minister also said that the reservoirs are on verge of reaching their full capacity by July-end.
"As we have rain in abundance and we are receiving rainfall in abundance which has led to all the reservoirs storing enough water, farmers in the state will not face water shortage for irrigation purpose", he said.
Stating that his department is committed towards supporting the farmers, Paliencar said,
"We would initiate all the steps needed to assist farmers. The government will also focus on rain water harvesting so that there is no shortage of water in the future."
