CANACONA
Claiming that development in Canacona has been wasted over the last five years, the Canacona BJP Block assured to firmly support Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar for the next 10 years and promote all-round development in Canacona.
“The speaker’s role is not limited to conducting Assembly sessions, but he can utilise his authority to carry on development of his constituency,” said South Goa BJP Vice President Mahesh Naik, while addressing a news conference at the Government Rest House in Shrishthal on Saturday.
“Due to efforts by Tawadkar, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sanctioned within barely 15 days Rs 27.70 crore for the hotmixing of a 23-km stretch of the NH 66 highway between Gulem and Balli. This project will be launched on Sunday at 10.30 am to mark the birthday of Chief Minister,” Naik said.
Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) former deputy chairperson Kishore Shet said no development had taken place in Canacona in the last five years.
“These last five years had been a waste and now, the entire BJP family will rally behind Ramesh Tawadkar for the next 10 years at least. Our efforts will be to increase the votes to a minimum of 14,000 for the BJP candidate in the next elections. BJP will now bring in overall developing in the entire constituency,” said Shet.
BJP block members claimed Tawadkar had already been instrumental in bringing Rs 4.15 cr development in Loliem-Polem village and Rs 2.81 cr in Poinguinim village, while a mobile tower would be installed in Cotigao village within the next 3 months to extend network connectivity in the remote area.
Others present at the news conference included BJP Mandal General Secretary Vishant Gaonkar, Secretary Prabhakar Gaonkar, Sidharth Dessai, CMC Dy Chairperson Laxuman Pagi, Councillors Sara Dessai, Amita Pagi, Hemant Naikgaunkar, Narcisco Fernandes and Panch Datta Gaonkar.
