BICHOLIM
A 55-year-old woman is suspected to have been murdered after her body was found in a jeep parked behind the bus stand in Bicholim. One person has been detained in this connection.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Laxmi Shirodkar, Tale Wada, Matne-Dodamarg, had an injury on her nose, raising suspicion of murder. Locals said the woman was seen wandering around the area and is reported to have had a dispute with someone in the area.
Bicholim police launched an investigation into the matter. DySP Shridevi B V and Police Inspector Vijay Rane visited the site, while a forensic team also collected evidence from the scene.
Bicholim police later detained a suspect in connection with the case and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
PI Rane said the body has been sent for an autopsy and further details will be revealed once the autopsy report is received.
