6 children buried in wall crash debris at Caranzalem; injured but out of danger

PANAJI: Six children were injured after a boundary wall collapsed burying them in the debris at Tonca, Caranzalem on Tuesday evening.
The children all aged around nine years, who are believed to be out of danger, were shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital after being initially treated at the site by the 108 ambulance staff.
Two ambulances -- one from Panaji and another from Taleigao rushed to the spot upon being informed of the incident -- but had to work their way through a crowd of around 150 persons who had gathered at the site in the wake of the incident.
The children were removed from under the debris by locals who first reached the scene.
According to Panaji police station, the wall collapsed in the evening and the children passing by on the road besides it were trapped under the debris. The children were removed from under the debris by locals who first reached the scene.
Police Sub Inspector Neelam Naik arrived on the scene and conducted the panchanama. Testimonials of residents have been recorded. The incident had been registered as other accident and an investigation has been launched.
Residents from the area have informed that the wall had collapsed on a few occasion in the past as well. Lack of solid repairs on the wall have lead to Tuesday's accident.
