Car driver booked in Canacona road mishap

The Canacona police has booked an offence against the car driver in connection with a collision between the car and a passenger minibus that left 27 persons injured late Thursday evening.
Head Constable Vijay B Kalekar on behalf of the State registered an offences under Sections 279 and 337 IPC against Akshay Naik (21) of Corlim, on charges of driving the car in a rash and negligent manner, thereby endangering life.
The FIR registered at Canacona Police Station on Friday afternoon stated that Naik was proceeding in a car from Agonda towards Devabhaga, when the car collided with an oncoming passenger minibus on reaching Adpe-Devabhag, causing injuries to 26 passengers in the bus. Naik was also injured in the mishap.
Meanwhile, the ill-fated passenger bus (GA-08 U-0009) which fell on its left side, was lifted with the help of a JCB early Friday morning. The Alto Car (GA-03-P-2108) was also pulled back on the roadside. Both vehicles were see on the road on Friday.
