6 nominations accepted, one rejected in Canacona

Six candidates, who had filed their nominations, passed the scrutiny test, while the nomination of an independent candidate was rejected by the RO for failure to file mandatory affidavit along with the nomination form.

CANACONA

According to RO, independent candidate, Pratap Pagi failed to produce an affidavit with his nomination form within the stipulated time period and hence his nomination papers were rejected.
Sources informed that Pagi’s initially submitted affidavit mentioned as MG candidate, without a ‘B’ form, and is also learnt to have informed his desire to contest on GSM front. Since, there was no clarity in his affidavit, he was asked to produce a
correct affidavit before the closure of permissible period on the last day of filing nominations.  He, however, reached 15 minutes late, when all nominations were duly sealed and hence his corrected affidavit (Form-26) was not found with his nomination set, when it was taken up for scrutiny and hence rejected.
In another case, one of the sets submitted by Congress candidate Isidore Fernandes was also rejected for failure to attach
Form 26 (affidavit) to his nomination papers, while his one set of nomination form has already passed the scrutiny test and no technical damage was done to Fernandes’ candidature.
BJP’s substitute nomination papers filed by Divakar Pagui, who filed as dummy candidate for BJP, were also set aside once the nomination papers of main candidate Vijay Poi Khot were accepted during scrutiny.
Nominations accepted from national and state parties are Gourish Bandekar (MGP), Isidore Fernandes (INC), Vijay Pai Khot (BJP) and Sandesh Telekar’s (AAP) candidature. Candidatures of Ramesh Tawadkar and Savita Tawadkar, both from other candidates category, as Independent candidates are also left in the fray.
