The Calangute police along with the Tourist Police unit arrested Babul Prashant (30), Shridhar (28), Awanath (32) and Kartik N (32), all from Kolal-Karnataka, Sunil Julankar (30) of Nagpur and Manish Kumar (29) of Delhi under Sections 34 (IV) IP Act for consuming alcohol in public and creating nuisance
to others.
“We caught these tourists red-handed while drinking alcohol on the Calangute beach. All the six tourists were sent for a medical checkup and only after confirmation were they arrested,” Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said.
The arrested persons were produced before the Mapusa JMFC, who released the accused on bail, but issued instructions that they should be produced before the court on Friday morning.
It may be recalled SP, Karthik Kashyap had in a meeting with the public had said that police will take tough action against people who get drunk and create nuisance in public.
