One candidate from Kavalem was elected unopposed before scrutiny. Joao Fernandes, Mamlatdar and Returning Officer for Betki-Khandola, Curti-Khandepar, Quriem, Tivrem-Orgao, Usgao-Ganje, Verem-Vaghurme and Volvoi, told media persons that Satyavan Shilkar from Ward 1 of Verem-Waghurme and Navid Tehsildar from Ward 6 of Curti-Khandepar have been elected unopposed.
“Forty-eight aspirants have withdrawn the nominations, leaving 239 in the fray,” he said. Bhiku Gawas, Joint Mamlatdar and Returning Officer for Bethora-Nirankal, Borim, Panchwadi and Shiroda, said 174 candidates are in the fray, as 31 have withdrawn. No candidate was elected unopposed in these areas, sources said. Abhir Hede, Joint Mamlatdar and Returning Officer for Veling-Priol, Wadi-Talaulim, Durbhat, Kundaim, Bandora and Marcaim,
said 36 aspirants have withdrawn and 284 candidates are in the fray.
“Narayan Talaulikar from Ward 7 of Wadi-Talaulim has been elected unopposed after withdrawal
process. Sonali Tendulkar was elected unopposed before the scrutiny process,” Hede added. Meanwhile, the election symbols were given to all the candidates in the fray.
