CANACONA
While the country has been shamed and outraged over sexual assaults on minor girls, a shocking case has been reported in Canacona where a 6-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three non-Goan security guards over a period of three months at a construction site.
The three accused, Ravi Ree (25) Jaideep Ree (24), both from Assam, and Manoj Kumar (20) of Madhya Pradesh, all security guards at an upcoming residential locality at Nagorcem, were arrested by Canacona police on Friday following a complaint by the girl’s father, a migrant worker from UP.
According to police, the girl was sexually assaulted repeatedly by the three accused over a period of three months.
Sources added that the girl’s mother had died a few years ago and she was living with her elder brother and their father, who was an alcoholic and worked as a mason at a construction site. The girl complained of pain to her brother on Friday and narrated what was being done to her by the three accused.
The brother then reported the matter to their father.
Sources said the father, who lives in a nearby shanty, then notified the police.
Acting on the complaint, Canacona police arrested the three accused and sent them as well as the 6-year old girl for medical examination on Saturday. Medical examination confirmed the girl had been raped. The girl was sent to the Apna Ghar in Merces, while the three accused were produced before the JMFC court and remanded to police custody till May 2.
