In what comes as a big boost to Goa TMC ahead of the assembly polls, seven prominent grassroot leaders joined the Goa Trinamool Congress on Thursday in multiple events held in Panaji and Corlim, according to a press note.
In a press note, TMC states that AITC spokesperson Om Prakash Mishra inducted former Dabolim panch contestant Tulsidas Fhaldesai, social worker Chandrakant Parabh and Usgao Church representative John Geron Fernandes at the party office in Panaji. Goa TMC leaders Pratibha Borkar and Seby Menezes were also present on the occasion.
Om Prakash Mishra welcoming the grassroots leaders stated, “Trinamool Congress is the only political party where there is no gap between promise and performance. 90% of promises made by TMC in West Bengal in April/May have already been fulfilled, and this is a record.”
In the press note, Tulsidas Fhaldesai stated that he joined the Goa TMC since the party had aligned with MGP for the upcoming polls. “I will always be there to work for the party since I have worked with MGP in Dabolim earlier. Together the alliance will oust the BJP in Goa.”
In Cumburjua, seven-time panch of Carambolim panchayat, Wilson Valladares, former Treasurer of Congress Block Committee, Praveen Dandage and senior leader Shantaram Naik joined Goa TMC in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and AITC Goa State co-incharge Sushmita Dev, Goa TMC leaders Samil Volvoikar and Swati Kerkar were also present at the event which was held in Corlim.
After inducting the grassroots leaders, Sushmita Dev stated, “I am happy to know that all the three inductees are grassroots leaders because the word Trinamool itself means ‘grassroots’. Their induction makes the party even stronger. TMC is the only party that has defeated the Modi-Shah duo twice in Bengal, and TMC has come to Goa to defeat the BJP here as well.”
She added that the Goa TMC would implement the schemes announced by the party as soon as the party comes to power. Wilson Valladares stated that even though he wanted to retire from politics, he decided to join Goa TMC after seeing the work of Samil Volvaikar.
Similarly, in Aldona, Oswald Cordeiro, Deputy Sarpanch of Moira was inducted into the Goa Trinamool Congress by senior leader Kiran Kandolkar. That apart over 30 women from Gajant Laxmi Mahila Mandal too joined the TMC party fold, adds the press note.
