PANAJI
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said it has decided to cancel all its big election-related meetings for the next few days due to the surge in Covid infections in the State.
BJP spokesperson and former legislator Sidharth Kuncolienkar said the rising number of Covid cases prompted the party leadership to take the decision.
"We will postpone the meetings and hold them later when the situation improves," Kuncolienkar said, adding that alternative methods of reaching out to the people will be adopted.
"we will approach the voters through other means like social media, mainstream media, door-to-door campaign,” the former Panaji MLA said.
He also appealed to other political parties to desist from organising election-related events, where large gatherings will be held, to help overcome the third wave.
