PONDA
Seven members of Revolutionary Goans (RG) who were arrested on charges of confronting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the condition of roads in Ponda have been sent to a 14-day custody.
Ponda PI Mohan Gaude said the incident took place when the chief minister was touring Shiroda constituency along with Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar.
The seven RG members sent to custody are Sachin Gaude (30) of Borim, Rahul Naik (35) of Deulwada-Bori, Nicki Alemao (26) of Tarvale-Shiroda, Shailesh Naik (38) of Vaje-Shiroda, Prajyot Gaonkar (30) of Kotwada-Bethora, Yogesh Naik (30) of Torl-Shiroda and Eliot Godinho (34) of Pandgal-Shiroda.
RG leader Manoj Parab denounced the action against the seven members as an “attack on democracy”.
“The members had only asked the chief minister about the bad conditions of roads and he told them to show him 10 potholes. The members responded by saying that they could show him 100 potholes. This incident is proof that the government has become scared of the Revolutionary Goans,” said Parab.
