Many healthcare workers attached to Hospicio lined up at the TB hospital to take a jab of the Covid vaccine, but there were few who either refused to take the jab or rejected it on genuine grounds as they were not medically fit to do so.
On day one of the vaccination programme, around 83 Hospicio healthcare workers took the jab of Covid vaccine at the TB hospital on Saturday. The next session of the programme will be announced later.
Around 100 heathcare workers were scheduled to take the vaccine jab at the TB hospital on Saturday, but as it turned out only 83 took the jab.
Covid vaccination programme Nodal Officer, Dr Ira Almeida, said there were some healthcare workers, including doctors, who are presently out of station. She said a couple of the healthcare workers are on pregnancy leave, while there may be others who have a history of severe allergic reactions to drugs. “Hence, these beneficiaries have not turned up,” she added.
Dr Ira said that there were genuine rejections and refusals as the few healthcare workers were not medically fit or had genuine issues.
